Quantum information research at UMD is centered here in QuICS and at the Joint Quantum Institute, the Quantum Technology Center, and the NSF Quantum Leap Challenge Institute for Robust Quantum Simulation.
These centers are part of a rich scientific landscape at UMD, with related quantum research efforts taking place across the university in academic units including the A. James Clark School of Engineering, the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, the Computer Science Department, the Physics Department, the Condensed Matter Theory Center (CMTC), the Center for Nanophysics and Advanced Materials (CNAM), the Institute for Research in Electronics and Applied Physics (IREAP), the Institute for Physical Science and Technology (IPST), and the Maryland Center for Fundamental Physics.
